ATASDA Queensland 'Vivid' Challenge

Inspired by the trawlers heading out into the sunset at Mooloolaba off the Queensland Coast.
This imag steitched onto hand painted silk won;
ATASDA Judge's Choice at the June Quarterly Meeting
and Viewer's Choice at the Textile Arts Festival in Brisbane - a great thrill for a beginner!

My Quilting journey has recently begun with my style leading to works, which have some symbolic memory or emotional reference.

I enjoy both practicing my art and teaching. In November 2010 I taught on the topic of ‘Colour’ at Norfold Island’s Quilters Getaway.

Over time I have learned that design is a personal thing. What one person finds imbalanced with colours screaming at each other, another may find excitingly quirky. What I find serene and restful you may find mind numbingly boring. Design and working with fabric is, for me, a cathartic form of expression and a lot of fun!

I was trained in design at the Queensland College of Art and later at Moreton College of TAFE and Brisbane College of Advanced Education. I gained my Bachelor of Education from the University of South Australia while teaching Fashion for Queensland TAFE.
